Our History

Established in 1978, Michael Grimm Services began as a one man operation. Michael earned a bachelor's degree in Chemistry and a Master's degree in education. But his love of gardening, plants, trees and physical work led him into the landscape and tree care industry. With a bicycle and some hand tools, he developed a small route of customers under the tutalege of a semi-retired landscape gardener from Sweden, Bror Nyberg. Buying that first truck was a stretch. His first employee was his wife, Karen. Within three years, Michael owned a truck and a growing collection of power equipment. The number of employees grew as the years went by. The company still ran out of the family livingroom and kitchen, but it became clear that more space was necessary.

Building a barn on the back half of the property felt like a leap of faith but the trucks and equipment now had a space of their own. Things felt quite spacious for the first few years. An office was fashioned in the family garage and a secretary made it feel like the company was launched. We grew to the point where the 'spacious' barn was impossibly small and we rented, then purchased a property with several barns on Lafayette Rd. A rental office space on Ainsley Drive gave the secretaries room to expand and although two separate locations was not ideal, plans were drawn up to build an office building on the new property. In the near future a consolidated business site will be developed and our operations will become more efficient.

We always strive to provide our customers with the very best service possible. We maintain a fleet of vehicles and equipment to best serve our clients' needs. Our staff is trained and provided with continuing educational opportunities so that we can offer the best and most current knowledge to help maintain beautiful landscapes. Michael continues to lead the company and instill in each employee the desire to serve and provide excellence in all aspects of the business. We started small and have grown but the fundamental philosophy has remained the same, to serve our customers to the best of our abilities.
